Description: Complex Systems Research Center (CSRC) coordinated land use/land cover mapping for the I93 Corridor in southern New Hampshire. The project was initiated by coordinating an effort to develop standards and protocols for the mapping activities. Training in basic photo interpretation and delineation techniques was provided to staff from the four participating Regional Planning Commissions; Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission, Nashua Regional Planning Commission, Rockingham Planning Commission, and Southern NH Planning Commission. Each of the four Planning Commissions was responsible for mapping the land use/land cover for their constituent towns within the corridor. This was accomplished by screen-digitizing land use/land cover polygons using natural color aerial photography (1-foot resolution), acquired in April of 2005, as the background.
The four resulting data sets were submitted to CSRC and compiled to from a single data layer comprising the 26 town region. CSRC was also responsible for the examination of the overall quality of the data which included validation of polygon codes and topology.
