Description: Impervious surfaces were mapped in 11 communities located in York County, Maine. Funded through the Piscataqua Region Estuaries Project (formerly the New Hampshire Estuaries Program), this project is a supplement to the "Impervious Surface Mapping in Coastal New Hampshire" project completed for the New Hampshire seacoast region. The project applied both traditional and subpixel image classification techniques to 30-meter Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) and Landsat 7 ETM+ satellite data, acquired in 1990, 2000, and 2005 to derive impervious surface estimates for the study area.
The classifications were subsequently used to estimate impervious surface percentages at the subwatershed level for the 11-town region.
