The NHBMPP has been using the Ookla tool (<http://www.ookla.com>) to test broadband access speed and latency since 2010. Users are invited to take the test, and are asked to provide their street address so that the data may be geocoded. Users may access the tool multiple times, but the data is post-processed to derive a single record representing the maximum up/downstream speeds at each location.
The data recorded is used to verify broadband coverage data the NHBMPP receives from broadband providers in NH, and to better understand the broadband landscape in the state. As the data are crowd-sourced, users should note that there is an uneven pattern of responses across the state.
