The RR coverage provides a digital representation of
the railroad line features mapped on standard 7.5-minute
USGS quadrangles.
Purpose:
These data may be used to construct municipal, regional, or
statewide base maps.
Supplemental_Information:
Data distribution tile: statewide
Source data is clipped to an area within 1 mile of the New
Hampshire state boundary, where the latter is based on the
USGS 1:24,000-scale Digital Line Graph data (see GRANIT
coverage PB <URL:http://www.granit.sr.unh.edu/cgi-bin/nhsearch?dset=pb/nh>.

The DLG files provided the basic coordinate information for
the data layer, as well as the fundamental feature codes.
Process_Step:
Process_Description:
The DLG-3 files for the 213 7.5-minute quadrangles in the
state were converted to Arc/Info coverages using "DLGARC".
Line topology was constructed, and attributes were appended
using standard Arc/Info utilities. Each tile was then
projected from UTM meters (Zone 18 or 19), NAD27, to NH
State Plane feet, NAD83. The individual tiles were then
edgematched, allowing for movement of arcs at the
quadrangle seams of up to 10 ft. to create the statewide layer.
