Abstract:

The NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) has compiled geographic information on the boundaries of aquaculture sites in NH's tidal waters. The coverage contains the boundaries of aquaculture sites that were licensed in 2019. This shapefile is a revision to the 2018 version, revised 7/25/2018. Information is current as of 2/7/2019.

Purpose:

The purpose of this coverage is to compile all existing information about the extent of aquaculture resources in NH's tidal waters.

The areas affected by these special conditions are defined in the NHG&F aquaculture license; they are not delineated in this shapefile.

Lineage:

Statement: For all licenses except those noted below, polygons were created using coordinates provided by the NH Fish and Game Department (NHF&G). The polygons for 2016-07 (5 year license) and 2017-16 (5 year license) were created using the slip locations provided by NHF&G and telephone confirmation from both companies of their site dimensions. The polygon for 2017-09 (Cedar Point Shellfish; five year license) was drawn based on the description from the NHF&G license and from the operator, and sited by interpolation from aerial photography. The polygon for 2019-26 (Dr. Michael Chambers and Dr. Hunt Howell) was created from coordinates provided by NHF&G. Based on the coordinates and area of the site, a circle was created with the coordinates in the center and radius determined by the area. The polygon for 2017-28 (Virgin Oyster Shellfish, 5 year license) was drawn based on the description
