Abstract:

The NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) has compiled geographic information on the boundaries of aquaculture sites in NH's tidal waters. The coverage contains the boundaries of aquaculture sites that were licensed in 2014.

Purpose:

The purpose of this coverage is to compile all existing information about the extent of aquaculture resources in NH's tidal waters.

Lineage:

Statement: Polygons for licenses 2014-01, 2014-03, 2014-05, 2014-06, 2014-07, 2014-08, 2014-10, 2014-12, 2014-13, 2014-14, 2014-15, 2014-16, 2014-17, 2014-18, 2014-19, and 2014-21 were created using coordinates provided by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department (NH F&G). The polygons for 2014-04 and 2014-19 were created using the slip locations provided by NH F&G and telephone confirmation from both companies of their site dimensions. The polygon for 2014-20 was drawn based on the description from the NH F&G license and from the operator, and sited by interpolation from aerial photography. The polygon for 2014-11 was created from coordinates provided by NH F&G. Based on the coordinates and area of the site, a circle was created with the coordinates in the center and radius determined by the area. The polygon for 2014-02 was created based on telephone correspondence with Bruce Smith of NH F&G. He confirmed the vicinity of the site but could not provide coordinates. The polygon was created based on the description of the location and area provided in the license.
